Talk Straight: Idiot NY Dem Gov. Andrew Cuomo Considers Confiscating Guns...

talkstraight:

I see a big can of “Cup O’ Shit Storm” about to be opened.

From NY Times:

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Thursday that he had started discussions with leaders of the State Legislature about new gun control measures, and that he planned to propose a package of gun legislation in his State of the…

Recently there has been a lot of buzz about gun control because of recent events. The shooting in Newtown is very much a tragedy. With any tragedy of a large scale we see political motivation for action. This makes it a good time to push for legislation that could have prevented the tragedy. Liberals and others are currently doing that by pushing for stronger gun control.
It seems like the opinions about how to solve this currently include:
Better Healthcare for mentally unstable people
Banning “assault weapons” and some suggest banning more than that
Arming teachers in schools to prevent incidents like at Newtown from happening
Although, guns can make killing easier in some cases, banning guns won’t stop people from killing each other. Guns provide a quick means of self defense and they also provide a quick means of offense. However, preconceived killings like in Newtown are not going to be stopped by weapon bans. You can see that if someone has the intent to harm lots of people it can be done.
Another, point I would like to make is that guns are used as a means to regulate the government. If the population is well armed the inhabitants are able to defend themselves against tyrannous policies more effectively. Authoritative governments almost always disarm the population. That way resistance is minimal and less of a threat.
I think the most effective argument would be the ridiculousness of the impossibility of taking all guns from the US. All the law abiding citizens are going to hand their guns in and leave themselves unarmed. Who’s not going to give their guns up? Criminals with unregistered guns. This won’t help the situation because criminals are the ones that use the guns to commit crimes in the first place. If someone won’t abide by laws against murder/robbery why would they follow laws about gun control? Getting rid of all guns or nearly all guns in the US is just an impossible fantasy.
Guns are also effective at preventing other crime, and murders.

Guns can be used for recreational activities like hunting and target practice and it is our right to own guns! It’s my opinion that ideas of banning guns are absolutely impractical just like banning alcohol or recreational drugs. It’s just not possible to do! Everyone has a right to defend themselves!

After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn’t do it. I sure as hell wouldn’t want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military.

More Murders In The US Committed By Hands, Feet And Fists Than By “Assault Rifles”
As you can see in the chart pictured above, the vast majority of murders in the U.S. are committed with handguns, not rifles. More people were killed with shotguns (373), knifes/blades (1,704) and “other weapon[s]” (1,772) more often than they were with rifles in 2010, which were reportedly used in 358 murders that year.
Hands, feet and fists accounted for 745 murders in 2010 while rifles were responsible for only 358.
Wonder when the leftists will call for a ban on human extremities.

I understand they mean kicking, but when I saw feet I imagined a monkey chocking someone with his feet.
We need to ban monkeys.

I agree. You let those monkeys do whatever they want and next thing you know they’ll be taking over the planet.
